This podcast from NPR is pretty great and sounds an interesting anticipation of all the stuff that just unfolded at WeWork. Some highlights:
- Adam Neumann used to walk around barechested and barefooted in the elevator in his NYC condo building. There’s a couple of other details of him but he definitely comes out as this quite odd character – no surprise:
- At some point in the recording Guy Raz, the host, suggests quickly “…so you guys were bs a little bit?”, (min 21) when referring to the fake credentials the founders used to approach landlords.
Now I guess it is common to “bs” your way around things when bootstrapping a company but it seems they went as far as installing all the electric wiring on one of their first location apparently without relevant experience or certification…
